Ekphrasis

Ekphrasis Collection

( from the Greek ἔκφρασις — expression, living manifestation )

Every vase is a free gesture. Every shape, a sentence without grammar.

Ekphrasis is the collection where rigor leaves room for intuition, and experimentation becomes form. These unique pieces do not follow a pre-established pattern: they are born from trials, happy errors, unexpected deviations , from the material that reacts, from the colors that surprise, from the will to be guided more by instinct than by the project.

In this section you will find vases made not only on the lathe, but also with manual techniques such as coil or plate modeling . Ancient, slow methods that make each piece unique and deeply connected to the gesture.

Each vase is a living testimony of the creative process: a continuous research in which the boundary between error and discovery becomes thin. This series is an open laboratory , where ceramic becomes a fluid and spontaneous language, made of textures, contrasts and unconventional shapes.

Ekphrasis collects the free expression of doing , with all that it entails: movement, surprise, freedom.

Chora

“It is what welcomes forms and allows the generation of sensible things.”

In this collection, I am inspired by the myth of the Demiurge in Plato's Timaeus : an ordering force that, contemplating the eternal Ideas, shapes formless matter to give rise to a harmonious cosmos. The Demiurge does not create from nothing, but models , imitates , organizes : he gives form to the indefinite, animates it, makes it sensitive and alive.

Each piece is born from this original gesture: modeling the raw material to make it significant , to welcome it into the world of perceptible, concrete things. The clay becomes Chōra , a receptive and changeable space, which allows itself to be crossed by the forms without ever being exhausted by them.

This collection is a tribute to that primordial gesture: giving shape to the shapeless, with the hands as tools and the mind as a guide. Each object is a small expression of a larger order, a fragment of the dialogue between Idea and matter.

Pneuma

Pneuma – “The vital breath that animates matter”

If Chōra is the space that welcomes the form, Pneuma is what vivifies it. In this collection, the reference continues to be the Demiurge of Plato's Timaeus , but no longer as a simple modeler, but rather as a donor of the soul : the one who breathes the invisible force of life into the forms.

Pneuma is the original breath, the divine breath that penetrates matter and makes it not only ordered, but animated , a participant in the Anima Mundi . It is what makes the object not only beautiful or functional, but alive , capable of evoking, of welcoming meaning and of generating connections.

This collection explores the immaterial that hides behind the tangible: light surfaces, volumes that seem suspended, voids that speak as much as the full ones. Each piece is conceived as a breathing body, in which the gesture, the texture and the form become a channel for something deeper: a subtle, silent, but perceptible presence .

Pneuma is the second voice in a dialogue between matter and spirit, between gesture and meaning, between what is seen and what is intuited.
